HEAVY RAIN IN COUNTRY DISTRICTS

DAMAGE TO ROADS Heavy rain in (he. country districts yesterday caused damage to several portions of the Waimea County roads. A wash-out occurred on the TadmorGlenhope road, near the Tui school,, and u notification appears in another column from the County Engineer advising that the road is impassable for traffic until further notice. Temporary repairs will be put in band as speedily as possible. hTe water was over the approaches to the Brigbtwater bridge last night, and the Motueka-Riwaka bridge approach on the Motueka, side was covered this morning. With the cessation of the rain these approaches will soon clear. A small suspension bridge at- Stanley Brook has been washed away. A scour out on the. road has occurred on the Nelson side of the Kohatu station.
