The motion for introduction being carried hv 45 to 4M votes. Paired Labour members refrained from voting. The Bill was read a first time and forma 11 v adjourned. The oeneral opinion is that the Bill will he carried by one vote. The Assembly, by 45 votes to 41. discharged the Electoral Bill from tin* order paper. Mr Lang replying to Mr Bavin, said he had no intention of limiting the people. The Council would he abolished now or later, without any referendum. When the Legislative Council met the galleries were crowded and the anelectrical. Mr Willis immediately moved leave to introduce the Abolition Bill. Mr Alain, one of the new Labour appointees. declared that Labour would be blundering by abolishing the Chamber.
