COAL CRISIS IN BRITAIN
RATIONING PLANS IN EVENT OF NATIONAL EMERGENCY (By Electric Teleirranti.—Copyright., (Sun Cable.) LONDON, dan. 20. Labour is preparing rationing plans lor adoption in the event of a national emergency due lo the coal crisis. Mr Morrison, secretary of the London Labour Party, explains that Labour is organizing to assist in feeding the people in the event of an upheaval. It is cooperating with trade unions and also municipal bodies. Mr Morrison said: ‘■\Ye feel strongly that it. is the Government's duty adequately to prepare and avoid' industrial dislocation. If a Labour Government were in power it would safeguard tin- essential services bv Co operating with the Trade l nion Congress. Therefore, we are in duty bound similarly to assist the present. Govcrmnenl provided, firstly, that the Government's scheme does not make Labour’s plaits impossible to operate; secondly, that we do not find ourselves i ngaged in strike breaking. Anyway we. will not idly watch our people starve." The Standard says the Government disclosed plans for action in the event of a coal crisis, ll is believed immediately Parliament reassembles Air Baldwin will propose the prolongation of a slightly modified subsidy.
