Mr S. K. Sherwood, secretary of the Nelson Harboudr Board, who has been laid aside by illness for some considerable time past, is making progress towards recovery. The chairman informed the Board members yesterday afternoon that lie had been informed that Mr Sherwood would he ready to resume work again in about two months’ time. It was decided to send a letter conveying the Board's good wishes to Mr Sherwood. It was mentioned tit yesterday afterno., n's meeting of the Nelson Harbour Board that Mr H. B. Waslibourn. a member of the Board. had recently undergone an operation. The chairman slated he Wits progressing favourably. It was decided to send a letter of sympathy to Mi Washbourn.

The many friends of Mr and Mrs W. W. Squires will regret to learn that their son "Lex,” aged 14, lias met with a very serious accident near Martinborough, where lie is spending the holidays. From what can he gathered it appears that lie was one bf a. shooting party, and while cleaning the weapon it exploded, tile bullet entering his breast and coming out behind the shoulder. It is gratifying to Ik* able to state that the doctor holds out some hope of recovery. Mr and Mrs Squires leave Nelson for Martinborough this ('veiling.
