LEOPARD AT LARGE
ENCITEMFNT AT CALCUTTA
A ZOO EXHIBIT ESCAPES
CALCUTTA, Jan. 5.
There was a great sensation yesterday in Chowringhee, Calcutta's principal thoroughfare, when the news that a leopard cub was at large was announced. It, seems that, the occupant of a top Hat on opening his door saw a leopard sitting outside.
Efforts to capture the animal proved unavailing, and, finally, a number of police sergeants, armed with rifles, arrived from headquarters and shot the leopard dead. The animal was one of two cubs about to be presented to tho Calcutta ZOo by a Maharajah from Madras, who was staying at a hotel nearby. It had managed to get loose during the night.
