She also believ ed a warrant, was out for her arrest on account of such neglect. She went to the Police Court to satisfy the warrant and the police advised her husband to take her to a brain specialist. The woman thought her brain was soft and would rather kill her children if she could not work for them than that they should have brains like hers. Her husband departed for work on the day of the tragedy. She got an axe and made Nellie kneel and close her eyes and then hit her twice on the head. Then she took the baby, chopped its head off, after which she chopped Sydney’s head off. She then tried to cut her own throat, hut the knife was too blunt. A doctor who saw the woman after the tragedy considered her demented. She was committed for trial on a- charge of murder.
