PARKED CARS

...SK.;SSSJSI'.-;

MUST HAVE LIGHTS AT NIGIfP

During a dance in Nelson recently several motor cars were parked in the stand in Tvafalgar-street without lights being shown on the vehicles. The traffic inspector (Mr C. Parkinson) proceeded against four owners at the Court today, charging them with the offence. Mr Cheek, who represented the informant, said there appeared to be misapprehension about lignts on ears in parking places. In some cities lights were not necessary; but tne by-law in Nelson provided otherwise. The present cases were brought to bring the matter under the notice of the public. Lights were required on vehicles parked at night. The defendants—L.. K. Cottrell, W. Millier, F. R. Berryman and A. K. Griffiths—pleaded guilty and ordered to pay costs amounting to 14/6 each.
