HEAVY TRAFFIC FEES
XEI.SON PROSECUTIONS Prosecutions under the Motor \ chicles Act with reference to heavy traffic license fees were before .Mr T. K. Maunsell. S.M., at the Magistrate’s 1 ourt to-day, when an owner of a motor lorry was proceeded against for failing to register. The traffic inspector (l. A. Parkinson) laid the informations and was represented by Mr Cheek. The Magistrate: Has the defendant taken out. a license since the information was laid? Counsel: No. He made an application. but has failed to pay the tee; therefore he is not yet licensed. It was stated that the maximum penalty was £lO. The Magistrate: It is not the fine you are looking for; only the fee? Counsel : Yes. bo long as the fee is paid we do not ask for a penalty. The case was theieupon adjourned for a fortnight to give defendant an opportunity of paying. Another case called on was also adjourned.
