Tlie National Steeples resulted: Dundalk (Myers), 10.5, 1; Mailman (Waugh) 9.0, 2; Palbi (McKenzie), 12.4, 3. There was heavy rain overnight, and the track was soft and treacherous. The race was a chapter of accidents, only seven out of the thirteen, starters finishing, most, of these losing their riders in the early stages. This left Hoama in charge, and he maintained the lead until he came to grief near the Abattoirs. Palbi then led from Dundalk and Mailman. Dundalk, led over the last fence, and going on. won by six lengths. Time 6.22^. The Douthagolla Hurdles resulted: Parupa 1; Fairland 2; Berenbo 3. Six starters. Won by three lengths. Time 4.18*. MELBOURNE This Day. As a result of falls in the National Steeplechase, Mon rose had to be destroyed, and Kaoma was badly injured. No jockeys were injured.
