LABOUR SUPPORT OF PREFERENCE
A NOTABLE TRIUMPH
LONDON, June 13
The strength of the Labour vote on preference, combined with the declared similar views of ten to twelve absentees, is regarded by the rest of Parliament as a matter of significance and testimony to the influence of the Labour Common wealth Croup, numbering 90, formed during the last Parliament for the study of Imperial affairs. The Morning Post describes the Labour vote as a notable triumph for preference. The newspaper suggests that, the Government might find another claim to the allegiance of working men bv making preference depend on the use of British machinery in the industries concerned. The Dominions would thus lie encouraged to help' unemployment in Britain, which can make all the refining, drying and shredding machinery that the Dominions want to produce the sugar, tobacco and dried traits which are consumed by the Mother Country.
