GRUESOME DISCOVERY ASHES AND CHARRED BONES FOUND AT REAR OF MOUNT’S HOUSE SUSPICION AROUSED BY STAINED SHEETS (United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day Yesterday a party of detectives were at Mount’s home, examining several heaps of ashes that were found at the rear of the house. They gathered up a small hag full of chaired bones which will be submitted for expert examination. The result of the examination may be of supreme importance. When the officers went to the house on the day they were notified of the woman’s disappearance, they found in one of the rooms, a pair of sheets bearing stains. The sheets appeared to have been imperfectly washed and were later forwarded to the Government analyst for examination. His report is not yet to band.
Superintendent McKinnon denies that there is any truth in the report circulated yesterday morning that a discovery of importance had been made at Purakanui near Port. • Chalmers, if was at. Purakanui that Mouat was born.
