FAILING TO ACCOUNT

WELLINGTON, This Day
A carrier named Herbert Alexander Price pleaded guilty to receiving two chests of tea valued at £l4, the property of the Wellington Harbour Board. Accused alleged that lie was leaving Green’s Wharf with flour, when a storeman approached him with two chests of tea and said, “I will go fifty-fifty.” Accused took the tea.
The solicitor for tho Harbour Board said that the storeman and casual employees in the shed had been brought before accused, who said none of the men paraded bad given him tea. TTie Board’s officers had to Hold an inquiry and were satisfied tho employees were not, implicated. The Magistrate said there Mas no evidence reflecting on any official of the Board. , ~ , Accused was admitted to probation for 18 months, a condition being that ho abstain from intoxicating liquor.
