Arrangements are now well in hand for the open air entertainment to be held at Trafalgar Park on Tuesday evening next, and’ a unique evening will no doubt eventuate as an outcome of tho participation of members of the flag ship’s company in the programme, which will consist of instrumental items by bands from the flagship as well as the local Regimental and Silver Bands, and musical items bv local talent.
A feature of previous visits of warships has been the tug-of-war contests between Jack Tars and local teams and a revival of these contests will no doubt create considerable interest. The contest and musical platforms are being specially lighted for the occasion and thus the public may be assured of a favourable view of the unique proceedings. Tickets are now nn sale and may be obtained from members of the Citizens Committee who are devoting the funds to the entertaining of the flagship’s company during their stay in Nelson. The public are reminded of the aquatic carnival to be held at Port Nelson on Thursday evening, for which a. most interesting programme is being arranged, to he carried out. in close proximity to the bertehing tees at the wharves, so that- patrons may be assured of a good view of the interestine events.
