Tlie lion. J. G. Coates, Minister of Railways, arrived here to-night, from To Kuiti and left later for Mnrton eti route to Wellington. “I cannot confirm it, - said Mr Coates, when Jiis attention was drawn to a report that Mr K. Fay, son of Sir Sam Fay, one, of the railway commissioners, is to take control if the operations of branch railways. Mr Coates hinted at the possibility that one of the l visiting raihvaymen was coining to stay in the Dominion for about three months, and another one. for a longer period, but ho could nut say anything definite, lie will issue a statement on railway matters in a few days.
