A REMARKABLE FREAK
ON VIEW AT THE 'SHOWGROUNDS In the side-show division at tho Showgrounds on Tuesday and Wednesday, there will be a remarkable freak of nature in the shape of.a,half-horse, half-deer. This unique animal is being exhibited by Mb F. Barclay, of Taranaki. . -.. ' . *'. The mother was a piebald mare, the siro being Jersey the trotter. The ' mother was owned by the caretaker of the Stratford racecourse. Mr JY McKie, M.R.C.V.S., of Wellington, jn an official certificate, states: "I Jiav© v this day, at tho request of "Mr F. Barclay, examined the most extraordinary freak of Nature .that I havesoen in the course of my \eterihary experience, being that of a. foal built out of all proportion and an eye situated in tho middle of the forehead,' four .times' the size of tlie normal eye, and showing unmistakably the hide of a stag. This is a,very unique specimen and. fit for exhibition in any part of the world."* ' ■' ,, .'*' *
