BUTTER PRICES
NEW ZEALAND QUOTED AT 220/ PER CWT.
Finest New Zealand butter is now selling on- the London market at 220/- a cwt., compared with 210/- on 20th September. In the same time Danish has increased from 224/- to 238/- per cwt. The fresh make of New Zealand butter has yet to reach Home, and this, together with Australia’s quota, should reach fully 8000 tons to arrive before Christmas. There is no New Zealand butter insight so far as London is concerned before December. From inquiries iu the butter trade at Wellington yesterday, the Post was informed that the highest price the Home buyers are prepared to pay to-day for ‘New Zealand butter for immediate shipment is 200/per cwt., covering cost, insurance, neigh t,exchange, and other charges incidental to its landing in London. That is 20/- per cwt. under the spot market price of to-day. Many in the trade conisders the price is perilously near the danger point.
