STATEMENT BY NELSON FRUITGROWERS’ COUNCIL

Referring to the statement circulated from Wellington to the effect that numerous petitions had been presented to Parliament from Nelson orchardrsts in. opposition to the above Bill, the executive of the Nelson Provincial Fruitgrowers’ Council desire to state that the actual position is that two comparatively small petitions, each containing some very extravagant and extraordinary statements, have been presented m opposition to the Bill. On the other hand, a petition in support of the BUL is now being very strongly-supported throughout the Nelson province, strong evidence in support of the Bill is being given bv representatives from Gtago, Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, Wellington, Wairarapa, .Marlborough, Poverty Bay, and Nelson, the only province to show a united front against the Bill being Canterbury.
