Mr and Mrs John Sheriff and daughter, whose homo is at Forest Vale, neai Bulawayo, Rhodesia, is at present paying a- visit to Nelson en route to Christchurch, his birthplace. He has spent some twenty-eight years in South Africa, and is well known for his mission work among the Matabele people. For over a year ho has been taking a well-earned holiday in England and the United .States, and will visit Australia on his way -Home. By request he will give a lantern lecture to-night at the Church of Christ schoolroom in connection with native work in his district.
Mi- F. T. M. Kissel, principal assistant. electrical engineer, has been appointed Chief Electrical Engineer, vice Air Birks, deceased. Mr Kissel was born in Canterbury.—Press Association.
At. its meeting on Wednesday the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board unanimously re-elected Mr David Jones to be chairman of the Board for the ensuing 12 months. Mr J. S. Jessep was likewise re-elected vice-chairman. Mr Wm. Perry was re-appomted actingchairman during the absence of Messrs Jones and Jessep. _________
