ALLEGED ASSAULT (United Press Association.) TE AWAMUTU, This Day ■ Charles Bichdale, a Terore settler, who was found in his house on July 7th badly injured as a result of a blow on the head, and for which I? rank Garrett, a neighbouring farmer, was later committed for trial on a charg eof causing actual bodily harm, died last night at his sister’s home at Paterangi. Richdale appeared in Court a fortnight ago and gave evidence incriminating Garrett. Seemingly he had quite recovered, but yesterday afternoon he became semiconscious, dying in the evening before medical aid could be obtained. A postmortem has been held and there will he an inquest to-morrow.
