NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS (United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day The finals of the amateur boxing championships resulted: — Bantams: Griffiths (Otago) beat Hayward (Wellington) easily and retained the title. $
Wei her: Hay (Hawkes Bay) beat Walden (Wellington). The latter stood up gamely, but Hay was too fast and clever for him.
Light heavy weight: J. G. Leckie (Otago) and Garvey (West Coast) fought a hurricane bout- all through, and though Leckie got the verdict there was little between them.
Feather weight: Drew (Otago) beat Black (Wellington). The latter lost too many poi its in the early rounds. Ffy weight: After a lively bout J. Leckie, the holder (Otago) lost by a small margin to Taylor * ;v Light weight: Loveridge' (New Plymouth) beat Trowern (Auckland). Although a novice the winner showed great capacity and great pluck, as his ear ivas split early in the fight. Middle weight: O’Neill (West Coast) won easily from Padget (Southland). Heavy weight: MeCrae (Wellington) won by default from Green (Canterbury).
