BUTTER AND CHEESE

WELLINGTON, This Day

The National Dairy Association has received tho following cable from London, dated. 25th July -

The butter market is quiet. New Zealand salted, 186 s to 188 s; unsalted 202 s ; Danish 200 s ; Dutch 200 s ; Esthonion 188 s; Latvian 184 s; Irish 186 s; Australian 180 s to 184 s; Siberian 170 s.

The cheese market is slightly better. New Zealand, white 90s, coloured 86s; Canadian, same price. Tho New Zealand Producers’ Co-op-erative Marketing Association has received a cable to a similar effect.

SHEEPSKINS

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London agents under date of the 25th inst.:—

“London Sheepskin Sales.—The following is the range of prices realised at the last sheepskin sales :—Merino, threequarter to full-woolled, 19d to 23d; merino, quarter to half-woolled, 13£d to 19Id ; merino, short and shorn, 9d to lid; crossbred, threequarter to full-woolled, fine, 16d to 23d; crossbred, threequarter to full-woolled, medium and coarse, 12d .to 17cl; crossbred, quarter to half-woolled, fine, 13d to 17d ; crossbred, quarter to halfwoolled medium and cvoar.se, Old to 13 Vd ; crossbred, short and shorn. Old to 12d ; lambs, 14d to ]£jd.” FROZEN MEAT 24th instant:— “Lamb.—N.Z. prime crossbred lamb Canterbury heavy 10 ; }d, light. 31-Jd; North Island, heavy lOd, light, 10,1 d. Demand for N.Z. lamb runs principally on light weights, market l firmer. Lamb on .spot particularly firm. “Mutton.—N.Z. prime crossbred mutton, Canterbury heavy 6Jd, light 71 d; North Island, heavy 6 I-Bd, light 7-J-d. Bettor demand for N.Z. mutton, any change in prices is in favour of sellers. .Some signs of improvement on spot.” “Beef.—Not quoted. Australian frozen meat, not quoted.”
