Thirty thousand people witnessed the athletic contest at Stamford Bridge be tween America and the British Empire. America secured the majority of events. America won the 400 yards relay. The Empire representatives included Porritt and Carr.
The Empire won the mile relay. America' won the four miles by ten yards. In putting the weight America won with an average of 48 feet 5.', inches. The Empire’s average was 41.4. In tlie high jump America won with an aggregate of 18 feet 10 inches against the Empire’s 17.7. The Empire won the two miles by half a yard.
America won lhe 440 yards hurdles in 61 3-5 seconds.
In the hammer throwing America s aggregate was 503 feet 6J, inches and Britain’s 464.3.
The eight lap steeplechase went to America, who won by eight yards. The, Americans, with 16 points, won the three miles team race; Empire 20 points. The pole jump America won with an aggregate of 37$ ft. ; Empire 35. The long jump America won with an aggregate of 69 feet 3i inches for three men ; Empire 44.7. Throwing the javelin, America won ih an aggregate by 524 feet 2 meres: Empire 448.11 J. Milo Medley relay, America won by two yards.
