“Hum Row" Dr. Rovston Foulkes, engaged in off-shore whisky traffic, was arrested by the immigration authorities for landing in the United States without a passport. When it was found that in's mission was on holialf of a sailor near death he was returned to the rum fleet in a coastguard cutter under tho white flag. Dr. Foulkes said he was a native, of Sydney, and a graduate of medicine in Glasgow and London. Me signed last autumn for a voyage to the Bermudas. He sought experience among men and adventure material for writing fiction.
