CANADIAN WHEAT CROP
DAMAGED BY DROUGHT

NEW YORK, July 16.
Chicago reports state/ that, great sections of tho Canadian wheat areas were heavily damaged by drought, causing prices of wheat to reach the season’s high level of 127 cents for September delivery, a gain of 5g cents a bushel over yesterday. Private despatches indicated that thousands of acres were ploughed under, while other areas were burned black and important lands would scarcely return tho seed. Official despatches indicate,?,that saving rains f('ll in Northern Alberta and Southern and Central Saskatchewan. Excessive droughts, however, are continning in Northern Saskatchewan and crop failures are actual. Winnipeg grain dealers freely predict that wheat will shortly reach 150 cents a bushel. Maize also made a sensational advance of 4A cents, due to adverse crop reports from Ohio and Indiana.
