The death occurred yesterday, after a prolonged illness, of Mr John W. Taylor, a well-known resident of Whakarewa, Deceased, who was 65 years of age, had resided in the Motueka district all his life and was universally respected. He leaves a widow and grown-up family of two sons and four daughters—Messrs A. and R. Taylor and Mesdames E. D. Barry, C. Knapp, and J. Sharkie; and Miss Taylor. .

The Master Grocers of Nelson city have presented Mr G. F. Kingston .with ,i handsome framed illuminated address as a mark of their goodwill on the occasion of his retirement from business. The address is on view in a window of Messrs J- Wood and Sons establishment. Bridge Street.
