ROCK GARDEN SOCIETY
ADDITIONAL MEMBERS The secretary is_ receiving names of new members daily. The ambition of the Society is to muster one hundred members, and it is felt sure this will be accomplished, as about twenty new names are coming up for election at an important committee meeting on Saturday afternoon next. The enthusiasm is extending to other towns and at the meeting it is proposed to accept members from anywhere in New Zealand. A well-known rock plant enthusiast writing expressed her envy at No! son having what Wellington has never attempted, and stating that Nelson is particularly adapted to laying out of public rock gardens. The Society is fortunate in procuring the assistance of Mr H. P. Washbourn in helping to procure beautiful limestone from Onakaka beach. This rock will he the best pi’ocurable, as plants thrive on limestone. The price will he higher on account of freight, but the effect of this fine colour rock will be exquisite and it can be used for the main facings, using the town rock for other parts. The committee on Saturday will discuss procuring an immediate shipment for use of a model town rockery and supplying members.
