CHINESE TEAM EN ROUTE

WELLINGTON, June 17. Official advice of the departure of • lie team of Chinese university Soccer players for New Zealand was received l.y the secretary of the New Zealand Council (Mr B. L. Salmon) to-day. Ho received the following cable message from Dr Gray, physical director for the Y.M.O.A. in China: “Strong team sailed to-day comprising Mr Dome (t• anager), ‘ Chen (coach), University, S< uth-Eastem University two players, Soo Chow one, Fuhtan five, Nan Yang four, Hong Kong one, Canton Christian two. Delay selection has made vast publicity impossible.” In answer to a question, Mr Salmon said that there was no possibility of die team playing in Australia on its way to Now Zealand. Regret was expressed that Dr Gray, who had dono so much for Soccer in China, was not accompanying the team as manager.
