BANK MURDER
ARREST AT A CAMP

LONDON, April 8
As a sequel to a long cross-examina-tion, Lance Corporal John Goldenberg, a native of Swansea and an inmate of the Borden camp, was arrested on a charge of murdering of Mr Hall, a bank sub-manager. LONDON, April 9
Goldenberg charged with the Borden murder is a Jew of Polish extraction, aged 21. Ha has served in the army for two years, and recently applied tor a discharge and then withdrew the application as friends withdrew an offer of £IOOO to put him into business. His barracks are almost opposite the bank, where Goldenberg had an account. The news of his arrest caused wild excitement in the camp. Crowds of soldiers and civilians gathered at the camp police station during the evening. Search parties on Tuesday night also made an important discovery at the camp, including £SOO worth qf notes hidden in a latrine, a smaller bif rid I e of notes under a bush behind the orderly room, and a bag with £5 of silver in some straw. A service revolver which had been missing was buried in a wood.
The Daily Express says that half an hour before his arrest Goldcnbcrg '.'as talking and smiling with a. newspaper man who questioned him abouc. a statement Goldenberg bad made to the police regarding a small cheque cashed for the adjutant on Thursday afternoon. Goldenberg was apparently arrested owing to information which -.ame from the regimental sergeant-major, - ho summoned the police to the orderly room by telephone.
