LABOUR CANDIDATE’S LIBEL SUIT

LONDON, April 8,

A. settlement was effected in the libel suit which - has already lasted several days in which T. W. Gillinder, Labour candidate for Ashtn-Under-Lyme, sued Sir Walter de Frece, Conservative member for the seat, and the Ashton Herald Publishing Company as a result of the publication of Sir Walter de Frece’s election speech alleging that plaintiff was an unholder of the Russian revolutionary regime and the nationalisation of women. Both defendants apologised and paid the costs, the defence paying also £75 to meet plaintiff’s expenses.
