NEW ZEALANDERS’ FIJIAN TOUR

The Tofua berthed at 2.30 p.m. yesterday, consequently the cricketers had a scratch game only. New Zealand’s innings closed for 150. Fiji lost seven wickets for 28.

The New Zealanders,' who received a hearty welcome, left this morning for Levuka.

SUVA, April 7 The New Zealand cricketers arrived at Levuka, hut owing to heavy rain play was postponed to 2 o’clock this afternoon.

The pitch was bumpy. Levuka were all out for 88.—Forster 2; Small 0; Kaad 9; Pennefather 45; Bentley 13; Allen 6; Simmons 9; Palmer 0; Kermodt 0; Waring, not out, 7; Kingsmilt 0.

Bonding— Anthony 4 for 20; Harvey 2 f<h\l3; Hiddleston 2 for 20; Sommerville 0 for 6 ; Cooper 0 for 11; Irving 0 for 12.

Play was slow the Levuka batsmen being cautious and unable to master the New Zealander’s bowling. The New Zealander’s scored 69 for one wicket—Hiddleston 2; Anthony, not out., 41; Irving, not out, 19; extras 7. The visitors were undeniably superior in bowling, batting and fielding.
