IRISH FREE STATE

AND THE KING’S NAME

(By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Sun Cable.)

LONDON, April 6

The Free State Government’s narrow majority of 35 to 29 on the question of retaining the King’s name in the American Liquor Treaty, which was submitted for ratification, is interpreted as an indication of the 1 determination of the party under the leadership of Mr McGrath to eliminate the King’s name from the Irish State documents and proclamations. It is pointed out that the King is not toasted at public banquets and the National Anthem is not played, while the Governor-General’s name replaces the King’s wherever possible.
