SOUTH AUSTRALIAN ELECTIONS

ADELAIDE, April 6. Tile State elections were held on Saturday. For 46 seats in the Assembly there were 49 Liberal candidates, 40 Labour 19 Country Party and three Independent ; while for twelve Council seats there were 23 candidates.
When counting closed at midnight only the Adelaide returns were complete. Three Labourites were returned. Mrs Good, the only woman candidate, received 1515 votes against 6854 scored by Mr Gunn, Labour leader. Though it is impossible to give a definite Verdict yet it looks on incomplete figures as if the Barwell’s Liberal Party will get a setback.

The state of parties is—Labour 24; Liberals 16; Country Party 2; doubtful 4 It is expected the final returns will give the Labour Party a majority over all other parties.
