AUCKLAND, This Day

The DcvoiuxnT fire engine, while travelling to a five call at 7 o’clock lastnight, collided with a telegraph pole. Deputy Superintendent Jules Deseelle, who was standing on the footboard clanging the gong, was killed instantly. lavo firemen fit. Clark and J. Page) and Constable J. Duane, who was picked up on the way, were hurled to the ground and more or less seriously injured. they are suffering from concussion and shock The motor engine was severely damaged. Tho accident was caused through a skid in the wet roadway. A smaller engine following close behind nearly ran over tho prostrate men in the- darkness.
