BREAKING AND ENTERING

THAMES, Nov. 19.
Billy Burnell, alias Giles Williams, aged 23, who was arrested on Friday, was charged this morning before Mr Salmon, S.M., with breaking, entering, and theft-, in all four charges, concerning two brooches, a purse, ring, bunch of keys, metal theatre tickets, and a pair of trousers. The police stated that accused stole the metal tickets from the theatre, and went around town selling them. In the course of his travels he found a house door unlocked, and ransacked the place. Finally, he went into a jeweller’s shop and asked to see some rings. When the assistant’s back was momentarily turned he stole a diamond and' ruby ring. Accused pleaded guilty to all charges, saying that he was under the influence of liquor, and had also drunk methylated spirits. The Magistrate convicted and sentenced him to reformative detention not exceeding three years. v , y
