Capt. E. A. Ricketts, a well-known mariner of Port Nelson, passed away' at his residence in Haven Road, after a short illness following a seizure on the wharf oil Saturday last. The deceased, who was 68 years of age, had been practically all his life in the coasting trade and is , well-known in local shipping circles. He. has been, master of several vessels engaged in the Day trade, hla last command being the Wairoa, from which vessel he retired about two years ago. The/funeral, which was a large one, representative of Nelson’s, shipping \ circles, was held yesterday, when flags at the Port were at Jialf-mast as a tribute to deceased’s memory. Thg lato Capt. Ricketts is survived by* a widow and a grown-up family.
