Cargoes are firm on adverse American exchange, with fair inquiry. Parcels are in good demand and have firmed 6d to 9d.
TALLOW ANI) WOOL SALES Tallow, 882 casks offered and 761 sold at par to 6d advance; mutton 44/- and 39/-; beef 43/- and 39/-. Wool sales: Merinos in very small supply. Average selection of all classes. Crossbreds prices firm all round with a hardening tendency. Slipes are now 5 per cent, above opening rates; New Zealand, T. 8.5., * Canterbury, 28d, O.M.C. 22-Ld.
U.S. COTTON .MARKET CONTINUED SENSATIONAL RISE NEW YORK, Nov. 7. The cotton market, taking a lead from Liverpool, continued its sensational rise here and in New Orleans. Gains of 100] points are being reported. December cotton is selling in excess of 34 cents a pound, and all futures are showing remarkable strength. The buying movement continues unabated and it is expected that it will persist for some time, indicating that the cotton producer may expect the highest prices since the war.
