The mark, after falling to 215,000,000 to the pound, closed at 190,000,000 and is now running a neck and neck race with the rouble for the waste paper currency record. Tlie latest quotations of the roublo are 3,000,000,000 to the pound. Herr Helfferich, in order to save Germany from the financial abyss, proposed to establish' a bank with a capital of 500,000,000 gold marks to issue notes based on gold. Another bank will be established by landowners and industrialists. It proposes to issue rye marks based on the value of rye. The. founders have already guaranteed 200,000,000 gold marks.
