DESTRUCTIVE FIRE
IN A ROTORUA BUSINESS BLOCK

ROTORUA, This Day
About 3 o'clock ■ this morning a fire in a block in Tutanekai street, owned by T. Williams, gutted the shops of W. Tiardie, draper; Mrs Galbraith, confectioner; also Hardies hulk store; damaged the shops of R. G. Nash, photographer ;E. T. Harris, bookseller. The fire had a strong hold when discovered. It was impossible to tell where or how it originated. Hardie s and Galbrith s stocks were destroyed and that of Marsh and Harris’s” greatly damaged. Williams was insured in the United office for £1400; Harris, United, £1500; Ilardie, Victoria, £1200; Marsh, Northern, £350; Mrs Galbraith was uninsured. The brigade did exceedingly well to save the block, as a stiong wind was blowing.
