BICiHT TO FORM. OI'ILDS OBJECTED TO.
(United Press Association)
CHRISTCHURCH, July L>. . A letter was submitted to the Munieipal Conference to-day Horn the Iw Zealand Local Bodies’ Dinners Guild asking for a resolution from the association approving of the formation of Forsvth said tliat the local body officers m Wellington had been unfavourable to the loiniiition of the guild. , It was moved that the letter e I6 Th J. K. Archer (Chnstehurch) moved that the letter be iereived and approved. Surely, he said, no one in this twentieth century would ignore trade unionism. Bocal body officers were entitled to freedom of action, and ho thought that to merely receive the letter would be to exhibit antagonism to the guild. Mr H. L. Tap ley (Dunedin) said that local bodies wore considered to be model employers. He thought the crmild was objectionable. Local bodies should not bo dictated to and told what salaries they were to pay their officers. If they secured an incompetent man the guild would oppose his dismissal.
