Under the will of Mr J. D. M'Uruer, who died at Christ-church on April 12th, provision is made for a number of.bequesfei to various institutions and bodies in New Zealand and Scotland. The present value of the estate is approximately £150,000. The will provides for various legacies and bequests to members of the testator's family and vari--ous relative's and friends. The following public- bequests are- made —Victoria Home for Friendless Girls, Invercai'gill, £100; Presbyterian Church for Canton Village Missions, £500; Barnardo Homes £100; Quarriers' Homes, Glasgow, £100; Public School Board, Kingussie, Inver'/lesshire, to provide annual dux medal. £100; Municipal Council of Kingussie for erection of clock tower, £IOOO. An interesting provision relates to the final disposition of the testator's estate. Upon the death of the last annuitant the residue is to be transferred to tho Public Trustee, who is to pay one half of the income therefrom to tho Salvation Army towards the upkeep of children's homes* rescue houses and prison gate work. The other half is to be paid to the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand for the upkeep of orphanages and Ross Home (Dunedin) for aged peopleIt will be many years before the estate comes into the hands of the Public Trustee as some of the annuitants are infants. It is probable, however, that when the time arrives for the transfer the estate will be exceedingly valuable.
