The Auckland Racing Club’s Meeting was continued to-day in fine weather. The track is heavy after the rain. Results:—

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day

Limelight went out favourite for the Great Easter Handicap, Battle Scene, Winning Hit, Pluto, and Lovesig i being next in favour. Battle Scene and Will Oakland were tho first to show out, but at the end of a furlong Lovesign ran into third place with Winning Hit and Pluto at tho head of the others. There was very little cliango in the order until the straight was reached, when Will Oakland retired. Battle Sceno was showing clear at tho distance, and though Lovesign finished fast Battle Scene beat her by half a length. Martian Miss was lour lengths away, followed by Pluto, Will Oakland, Limelight, and Mantua. Many Kittle was a slightly better favourite than Kick Off for the Great Autumn Handicap. Others well backed were Little, River, Quest, Bonnie Winkio ,and Deucalion. At tho home turn Boadicea and Sunart were showing the way to Castellan, with Bonnetter handy and Silver Peak moving up fast on the outside. Silver Peak was in charge at the distance, and finishing strongly won by two lengths. Kick Off outstayed Castellan and gained second place by a neck. Then came Deucalion, Bonnetter, Bonnie Winkie, and Boadicea.

(By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Australian & N.Z. Cablo Association). SYDNEY, April 2. For the second day of the A.J.C. autumn meeting Dio weather was fine arid cool and the attendance 75,000. The I racing was conducted under ideal conditions and proved enjoyable, and in many cases fruitful to patrons. Tho Cup was I a triumph for the old favourite, who was usually considered incapable of '■•inning handicap events. He always held a handy position. Cypher was always conveniently placed, but was unable to reproduce Saturday’s brilliant finishing effort. Results:— (Flying Handicap: Fleuiste 1, Wrangle 2, Glenacre 3. Eighteen starters. It was anybody’s race entering the straight. Fleuiste forged to tho front at the halfdistance and won by a length. Time, 1.12 1-5. Easter Stakes: Trilisa 1, Quintus 2, Lina way 3. Ten starters. Quintus and Trilisa fought out the finish down the straight, Trilisa winning by two lengths. Time, 1.26 g. Sydney Cup: David (Woodf, 9.7., 1; Heir Apparent (Lewis) 7.12, 2; Shillinglce (Shanahan) 7.2, 3. Rover and Kmgsfield were non-starters. The lipid moved off together, Happy Queen and. Shillinglco taking charge until approaching tho six furlongs. David had been lying third since the start. Cypher was sixth. Rounding the bend flip field was bunched, Shillinglee leading into the straight. David shot, to the front at the distance, and was challenged by Bitalli and Heir Apparent. He stalled off the latter by a length, Shillinglee running into third place. Cypher was fourth. Time, 3.261. First Steeplechase : Blue 1, Stone Marten 2, Copina 3. Twelve starters. SYDNEY, This Day. Tho Telegraph, describing tho Cup race, says that going out of the straight The Cypher was about ninth, but met trouble in trying to improve Ins position. Ho was seventh ing for home, hut though finishing in fair style, was unable to threaten the leaders. The Herald says the most unlucky horse in tho race appeared to ho Tho Cypher, who notwithstanding being knocked back, stood up gallantly, and worked his way to fourth place, a wonderful performance in the circumstances. Wood sat patiently on David and coollv moved up on the the rails at tho right moment, and won with a formidable weight. MELBOURNE, April 2. The Willnmstown Faster Cup resulted: Pondilson 1, Ouvrete 2, Beline 5. Won by three-quarters of a length ; time 2.37.
