THE SALT TAX (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association). DELHI, March 30. By a Gazette Extraordinary the Viceroy has certified to th<s >alt tax, which was rejected by the Legislative Assembly. In a clear, lengthy, unequivocal statement ha' sets out the reasons and points out that wages are high and prices; are falling,, and the salt tfrx will in nowise prove burdensome to the masses, ..whereas the Assembly was unable, after a. lengthy deliberation, to Sjiggest a feasible workable alternative to the tax* which will balance the current Budget. The Viceroy considers this essential if reforms are to prosper. The Viceroy states ho has not fcakcn the step'. without intense deliberation and examination of every alternative. He therefore certifies-the salt, tax for one year ,when the Assembly will havo powgr to re-consider, the position. - \
