MERCHANDISE MARKS BILL
SIR JAMES ALLEN'S REPRESENTATIONS (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association). LONDON, March 28. Sir James Allen is making representations to the Government with reference to the Merchandise Marks Bill, that 'foreign foodstuffs be marked "foreign" and Empire foodstuffs be marked with the name of the country of origin. This is applicable to retailers' displays. Sir J. Allen object's to marking meat, but the, carcase could be tagged until cut, cheeses- be branded, butter cases bo branded foreign or country of origin, and the percentage of'butter in margarine should be indicated.
