GOVERNMENT GRANTS
(To the Editor)
Sir,- —When listening to Mr Atmore descanting on what Mr Atmore has done for the district, one is irresistibly reminded of the story, “How Bill Adams won the Battle of Waterloo.” Mr Atmore did everything! Mr Hudson, ALP., deputations to Wellington, local bodies the hatehd Government itself, —all those did nothing. But Air Massey’s speech completely dissipated Air Atmore’s pretensions to have been mainly instrumental in securing such things as the railway vote, the fruitgrowers’ manure -loan, and the Harbour Board subsidy. It is clear that Mr Atmore has precious little to boast about after all.—l. am, etc., ALL ALONE I Dll) IT.
(To the Editor) Sir,— Having carefully read the most of Mr Atmoro’s addresses in which ho constantly deplores party politics. lam simply amazed at such assertions—for if I know anything of what words mean I am forced to the conclusion to regard him as about the strongest one for party polities that I know of. Boiled down it all means he is bent bv all and every means possible to kick Alassey out and put Milford in.— l am, etc,. disinterested.
