BREACHES OF AWARDS
PROCEEDINGS BY FACTORY INSPECTOR^ The Inspector of Factories (S. Tyson) proceeded against several persons at the Magistrate Csurt yesterday ■ afternoon for alleged breaches of awards. Mr T. E. Maunscll, S.M., was on the Bench. Alan Schwass, motor, driven, Hope, was charged wit!/ a breach of. the Motor Oar and Horse Drivers award! by agreeing with his employers, H. and C. Hill, bakers of Brightwatef, to work as a driver driving an* attending a motor vehicle, and did accept as wages and bonus * the sum df 4s 2d for the week eliding 7th October,' 1922, the amount being less than the award rates. ~"■,, ■■.. ..-'\ Judgment for £1 was given, costs 8/-, Against Henry W. Douglas and Lorenzo Hawkes, employed as drivers by Croucher' and Sons, Richmond, \for a similar offence in respect of wages. A penalty of £5 in each instance wasasked for. Croucher and Sons were proceeded against with-failing to pay the-award rates to H. W. Douglas and W. D. Harman. A penalty of £.lO in each instance was asked for. > Judgment for £3, cost* 5/-, was given. A similar cb'argc against H. and C.
