IF FUNDS WILL RUN

(To the Editor) Sir, —After careful consideration I deem myself a perfect- “adept” (“adept’s” right) in the art of perpetual pblitcfnlness! And when you want a thing done it pays to be extra special polite. The plain man—the candid man who speaks his mind of you in six plain rough-hewn words—who calls “a spade a spade” —has no niche in the edifice of my philosophy at all. He should be. sent out to dig drains. He should be made to use a spado for the term of bis natural life. Now to business. I should like to ask our most highly esteemed city fathers if they can not - see their way clear to erect a spring board. Two good springs in fact —two “stunner” boards covered nil over coan\it matting at Black Hole? The "board at present in use has done good service, but its constitution appears to be now somewhat undermined —it lias seen much active service I do assure, you. It is now rather groggy, and of somewhat uncertain mind —and may yet do a lasting mischief to one of other of these young chaps who daily display their agility upon its cranking frame. Two new spring boards —if funds will run please—that’s what I want —and in this I think I can depend upon the active backing of all who use this really magnificent natural swimming basin of Black Hole. At the same time, if seme of the'superfluous gravel (at the lower cm (I'm the pool) could be scooped out/—well, that would be a good thing too—but only if funds will run, mind you —and it is just the very kind of gravel to use with cement for municipal expansions. I may just mention here that the Carnival Committee out of part of its princely revenues hope to* build for the town up-to-date tepid swimming baths. Meanwhile we should make the best possible use of what we’ve got. I am, etc., B. SINCLAIR.
