Connolly mid Sloemau, who wore recently sentenced lor attempting to bribe Mr Brennan, a member of tin; Assembly, have been released I rum gaol, their fines Inning been paid. (Sleeman ami Connolly were 1 each sentenced to three months’ imprisonment without hard labour, and lined £SOO, in detank nine months’ imprisonment. The charge against them was ot attempting to br.be Air Brennan, a member ot the Queensland Labc.ur I’arly, to vote against the Gu\eminent on a censure motion hi tlm Legislative Assembly. The motion on loth August was actually deieated by 00 votes to .15, and the Premier, Air Theodore, then made allegations yit bribery against the Opposition. Finally, proceedings were taken against Sleeman and Connolly, who, when Air .Brennan told detectives he had been ottered £3200 to vote against Iho Government, were searched and loiind between them to be in posse.-.sion ol that amount.)
