KU KLUX KLAN
MOVE BY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.) NEW YORK. Nov. 22. The New York Herald's Washington correspondent states that the Federal Government’s first movement against the Kn Klux Klan will bo the dismissal M all members of the organisation holding offices under a Federal warrant and to prevent the inter-state activities ,of the Klan, whose centre is the State of Georgia. It is now learned that- Governor Parker’s special appeal to President Harding was for aid against Klansmen who move from State to State committing outrages but avoiding punishment by not being amenable to the laws of the individual State. It is understood Governor Parker outlined that lie was able to handle the activities of the Klan in Louisiana, but the laws of extradition were insufficient to enable a successful movement against Klansmen coming in from neighbouring commonwealths.
