MOTOR ACCIDENTS
ON TAHUNANUI ROAD A motor car accident, fortunately attended without any serious results, occurred yesterday afternoon .on fne Tahunanui road. Mr N. V. Wotton, secretary of the Nelson Carnival' Committee, accompanied by five passengers (including four ladies who had been selling tickets at the show for the sunshine contest) was driving into town, ■and when opposite the Tahuna school, something went wrong with the steer-ing-gear, the car running off the road and colliding with a tree. The passengers were severely shaken, but the presence of mind of Mr Wotton at a critical moment saved what might have proved a very serious accident. The wind screen of the car was smashed and a wheel buckled. ’■ A second accident occurred on %the Tahunanui road, .with rather more serious results to the occupants of one ol thcT cars. >Mr A. E. Tasker, accompanied by Mrs Tasker, Miss Dickson, of Mount Street, and .Mr F. Tasker (who was driving),, while* coming m from the Show was run into by a car driven by one of Messrs Newman Bros.’ employees, which was turning into the main road from .Mayo’s road. Tbo impact was a heavy one, and Mrs Tasker was severely shaken and Miss Dickson’s face was , cut; but the other occupants were uninjured. Both ladies had to be medically, attended. Mr Tasker's car is a new one, and received some damage.
