SYDNEY, Nov. 11. Throughout the Commonwealth the Armistice anniversary was observed with great solemnity. All business ceased, all hats were doffed, and a great quiet prevailed in cities_ and towns while the two minutes' silence was observed.
Large crowds gathered in central squares to pay homage to the memory of the dead. "The day was marked by various official and other functions. The chief in Sydney was the opening of the Methodist" War Memorial Hospital, the gift of the Yickery family, for which the Methodist community is raising £30.000 for fittings and upkeep.
(United P''fw CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 11 Archbishop Julius and Lord and Lady Jellicoe attended the Anglican Cathedral divine Armistice observance. The Last Post was sounded outside the Cathedral by buglers, and a short service was held latw.
